Mario Curzi, MD

Dr. Mario Curzi is a Bay Area native; born in Oakland and a UC Berkeley graduate.  He attended medical school at Vanderbilt University and continued his internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship there.

Dr. Curzi served as faculty at Vanderbilt University before joining Diablo Nephrology in 1985.  He is well versed in all aspects of kidney care including end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and dialysis management, such as home therapies including peritoneal dialysis and home hemodialysis.  He is active in the hospital management of acute kidney injury, hypertension, fluid and electrolyte imbalances, and pre- and post-renal transplant care.  In addition, Dr. Curzi is one of four interventional nephrologists with Diablo Nephrology.

Dr. Curzi has been involved in numerous clinical research studies in chronic kidney disease (CKD) and dialysis over the years.  He has a special interest in CKD care of non-dialysis patients for the diagnosis and prevention of CKD progression.  He is medical director of the home therapies program, as well as the Walnut Creek-FMC hemodialysis unit.  He sees patients in our Walnut Creek office.
